Evaluation categories
The classification of contributions by different editorial form (brief, report, reportage or broadcast etc) - with or without picture - gives, for instance, information about how many reports have been published in a qualitative, high-class, effective form and also where such success has not been found. How often a company's own releases are deemed so important as to warrant a report is measured, among other items. Conversely, companies can also measure how often the media evaluate them, their projects and products as newsworthy. The length of a report and its place in its surroundings give indications of the importance the subject is given in the current media at the time of observation. The slant of the article and/or the slant of the headline and the formatting of graphics or photos – all of these items together illustrate how journalists evaluate the company and whether it has succeeded in getting its message across and what needs to be improved in terms of PR work etc.
