Austrian Cooperative Research (ACR) is an association 17 co-operative research institutions in the Austrian economy, which work as an umbrella organisation. The co-operative institutions support companies – especially small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – with a complete range of services for research, development and innovation. ACR institutes offer testing and measurement services, reports and reviews, applied research and development, as well as technology and knowledge transfer.
    
The institutions in the group are: Bautechnisches Institut Linz; Bautechnische Versuchs- und Forschungsanstalt Salzburg; Forschungsgesellschaft für Wohnen, Bauen und Planen; Holzforschung Austria; Institut für Brandschutztechnik und Sicherheitsforschung; Austrian Institute for SME Research; Food Testing & Research Institute Vienna; Austrian Research Institute for Chemistry and Technology; Österr. Gießerei-Institut; Austrian Institute for Applied Telecommunications; Österr. Institut für Ökologie; Technik und Innovation; Schiffbautechnische Versuchsanstalt, Vienna Model Basin, Versuchsanstalt für Getreideverarbeitung; Versuchs- und Forschungsanstalt der Hafner Österreichs; Forschungsinstitut der Vereinigung der Österreichischen Zementindustrie; Graz Centre for Electron Microscopy.

In 2008, the ACR had revenues of 53.3 million euros. More than 68% of the services of Austrian Cooperative Research were provided to small- and medium-sized enterprises.

The main focus of the ACR is in representing the interests of these research institutes at home and abroad, It is also a platform for research and technological development in Austrian SMEs.
