departure is a subsidiary of the Vienna Business Agency and has the objectives of helping creative professionals to become self-employed and supporting entrepreneurs in this field in the development of their businesses. departure was established by the City of Vienna as an independent business and service agency for companies located in the city in creative industries.
departure is focused on creative professionals, who want to establish their ideas and designs in classic business activities, aiming to offer products and services based on creative ideas and innovations successfully.
Being at the interface between the arts/culture and the economy, departure offers businesses in the creative sector support in marketing their output by
• developing and allocating funds adequate to the branch (Innovation and marketing fund),
• provisions to improve businesses’ national and international competitiveness (professionalising)and
• finding and opening up new business opportunities (initiatives).
• Training programmes, such as “we-workshops for entrepreneurs” (www.we07.at)
In spring 2007, communication matters supported departure in implementing its new funding programmes: departure_pioneer and departure_experts.
